I see why the henchies have a sig of devotion now..
Because the devs knew that your going to die about 10 million times, and with 60 DP the poor ol'henchies wont have enough energy to cast whatever it is they cast ( REBIRTH IN THE MIDDLE OF A BATTLE ).
Has anyone noticed the healer henchmen is always the last one to die, she does a pretty good job of keeping you herself up but other then that nada ; You can stand there and bleed to death, furiously pinging on your health, and do you know what she will be doing? Attacking the monster... not even the party's target, just a completly different monster. And when all else is dead, IN THE MIDDLE Of the last 10 seconds before the res shrine reses, she starts to use res chant, which is instantly interrupted, afterwords they drop her.
Please, for the love of god, fix the healer and protector henchies. Hell, give them the same bar as the henchies from southern shiverpeaks, those things were atleast decent. Yesterday, I had to do most of the Kurzick quests with these pathetic henchmen, just because no one is ever willing to group up or w/e.

I managed to do most of the game with henchies, as an assassin, I finished both the Kurzick and Luxon sides, apart for Unwaking Waters (Kurzick), because I'm too lazy.
If I can do it with an assassin, sure as hell you can do it.

Danika is cool, she'll rebirth you right in to a mob off meele' foes, then after battle she'll fix her makeup before rezing and she is the # 1 tank in the game.
I take the Rt henches before a healer hench in Cantha

I personally like the Canthan Henchies better then Prophesis Henchies healing wise, rezing wise I don't.
I think they should just give the factions henchies the same AI control as the old Prophesis ones. It would save alot of headaches, no matter how good of a tank alesia is!

Danika does not have Rebirth. You are thinking of Redemptor Karl. Also, on the whole, she is the best healer henchman Guild Wars has yet seen (mainly because she doesn't use Healing Touch or Signet of Devotion).

I have done the same with my assassin, as well as almost all of Tyria and 100% map (Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer). Having done that, the OP's comments still apply. It's not whether you can do it or not (I did quite a bit of Tyria with my original Tyrian at 60%dp). You can do almost anything with 60%DP. I think he's complaining about how lame the henchies are (even though the Canthan ones are much better mainly due to their diversity). If you did all of it without ever getting to 60% DP or having any of the henchies at 60%DP then I definitely commend you (assuming you didn't re-zone the first time you died).
On the point of what the henchies have (and why they have what they do have), I'm curious as to where the spinal shivers-bearing henchie is, or for that matter henchies carrying spiteful spirit or some kind of minion master. Ele's that I see usually use meteor shower (a non-elite), yet no henchie has it. The henchies definitely do not even come close to representing a fill-in for a missing member. You can finish both games with henchies though (and without candy canes), it just takes time and patience (and the right player builds). A tank with henchies is just going to suck, no way around it (experience-wise). A necro with henchies or even an ele may not have any problem whatsoever. When a tank with a full party(8) of henchies has trouble taking down a lone monk boss (or two bosses as is usually the case in Ab's Mouth) then there's obviously something wrong.

IMO, the Canthan henchies cant hold a candle to the Canthan henchies. At least the Canthan henchie monks aren't res-happy morons that will happily run towards the other dead monk in the middle of 5 mobs to use Restore Life.
I rarely die in Cantha with both the hench monks, unless I aggro 2 mobs accidentally, or a group of Oni suddenly spawn and gang on the poor monks.
Domination Hench (RoF interrupting is awesome), Interrupt Hench, Earth Hench (Ward of Melee, whoo), Longbow Hench with Barrage, Vile Hench with Putrid Explosion (Too bad the elite is Lingering Curse :/). And the Canthan hench monks seem to have some sort of hex/condition removal which is sorely missed in Tyria.
The Spirit Hench is sort of dumb imo. He always puts Shelter in the middle of nowhere, and always seems to die first.
The monk henchies still have a problem with insisting on being tanks, though.

Yeah instead they go up to you and use REBIRTH like it was Restore Life.

Depends on character class, your play style, and what you expect from the henchies, whether you have problems with henchies or not. The henchies are an integrated unit and basically take care of themselves. You the player are an intruder in their integration.
If the healer has to take time out to heal you, then it all goes downhill pretty fast. Henching with a monk probably works best of all. Just keep the henchies alive and they will eventually kill anything.
If you are a caster or archer, then henching is much easier. Keep yourself out of melee, use your own healing, and the henchies work very well indeed. If you are a warrior, carry along something like Elite Endure Pain and your healing signet and keep your hp up there so the healer hench(s) don't waste mana on you, and things will at least work better.
If you're an assassin out alone with the henchies, open fire with a longbow (damage doesn't matter) and stay at range until you see a target of opportunity to shiv and then get out and heal before you suck up the henchie healer's mana. Even better, for solo henching, config your assassin as a ranger secondary archer (see campfire section, assassin forum) and mow down the countryside from range in comfort!
I've henched most of Tyria with a Ranger, a Monk, my warrior, and an ele/mo. The henchies in Factions are an improvement, no doubt of it. The problems I've had with the henchies have been my own fault, not theirs. Call targets for them when you can.

The best thing Anet ever did was give us a Mesmer interrupt henchman. That guy absolutely owns the Ranger interrupter. Lingering Curse does have its uses though. We might be better off with Spiteful Spirit, but LC seriously cripples any healing the target gets. And in most cases when are things like SS useful for henchman trips, most of the time the target drops before theres enough time for SS to really start hurting.

Professor Gai: needs to work on casting spirit timing of union and shelter they are useless when he casts them out of rang of battle.
Cynn & Eve: not much has changed with them, which is ok you know what to expect form her.
Aidan: I’ve never used him ever….
Devona & Lukas: I wish these two would get a room already, seriously these two stand around eye balling each other while called target battle is going on.
Nika: If it wasn’t for that shadow step out of battle into another mob and agro them skill she would be ok to bring along.
Erys: He’s better then the Distortion casting freak.
Brutus & Sheena: haven’t used them much
Danika (a.k.a Duh’ika): if she wouldn’t let me die, when I am fighting she wont heal me when I just stand there wanting to die she keeps me alive go figure.
Redemptot: Think I know why he wears that huge as helm, it’s like a dunce hat but it keeps the retardedness from spreading to the other henchmen but some time’s it doesn’t work.

Remember: Calling your health does nothing to trigger henchman healing.
You'll be a lot less frustrated if you don't think you can control them, and believe me: You can't make them do anything their AI hasn't already decided its going to do.

He uses Kindle Arrows + Dual Shot + Power Shot to pump out mediocre amounts of damage, Practiced Stance to extend the duration of Kindle Arrows, and Troll Unguent for healing.
He attacks from a distance, so doesn't aggro as much, and hits the called target with ease, due to his ranged attacks, without the annoying in-battle pathfinding issues that the melee hench suffer from.
He's meh, but for his mediocrity, he gives you a reliable performance, without nearly as many issues as most of the other hench.

Ya I didn't think it did anything.
Heres a frustrating screen of the 7 part mission, to get to the first mission Vizunah Square.
Now my b/p Ranger was the first character I took through Factions.Didn't change anything and must have used "Rebirth" on henchies 1001 times.Kinda miss getting "Shield of Regeneration" cast on me.
